The Story of SIP

Certified Sustainable Wine & Sustainable Vineyards

The Sustainability in Practice (SIP)™ Certification program recognizes a vineyard’s commitment to environmental stewardship, equitable treatment of employees, and economic stability. Sustainable wine comes first from sustainable vineyards and the supporting agricultural and labor practices.

How Long Has SIP Been Around?

We didn’t just fall into the sustainability business – it’s been our non-profit mission since 1994. But in 2004, we began the complex task of developing certification standards to ensure that the SIP process stood for something exceptional in the sustainability world. And that’s the SIP program you see, and that continues to evolve, today.

The SIP program certified its first vineyards in 2008 has worked since to raise awareness for and recognize those committed to sustainable wine production.

Dive into the details and discover how deep sustainable growing practices take root in the entire wine industry ecosystem. It’s an entirely new way to look at what’s in your glass.
