Santa Maria, California
From Sierra Madre Vineyard, you can smell the ocean from the vine-covered bluffs that rise up on sandy soils just 15 miles from the salty Pacific. One of only two transverse valleys in California that freely draw in cool Pacific fog to vineyards at night and burn it off over sunny California afternoons, the wide Santa Maria River Valley features ideal climatic conditions for ultra-premium wine grapes. The reliable afternoon winds from the ocean, combined with our sandy soils, especially benefit our Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes.
Sierra Madre Vineyard has a long history on the Central Coast of California. Originally planted back in 1971, Sierra Madre has been producing some of the highest quality Pinot Noir and Chardonnay fruit in the country. For years, all of the fruit was sold to top Pinot and Chardonnay producers throughout the state – and most still is. It was in 2003 that Doug and Jan Circle purchased the vineyard, and in 2006 they decided to create their own brand.
Vineyard manager, Rodolfo Callado has over 10 years of experience with Sierra Madre Vineyard, as manager of Mesa Vineyard Management. Rodolfo continues to strive to fine tune the blocks and clones while meeting the balance of sustainability throughout the vineyard.Return to Producers Listing »
