SIP Certified Tips: Chapter 3 & 4 (Vineyard & Winery)

These tips are to help you update your certification documents a little each month to prepare for your inspection, scheduled between June 1 through July 15, 2019 to achieve SIP Certified. NEW Tools to Complete Ch 14 Water & Nitrogen Use Reports

SIP Certified vineyards complete and submit Chapter 14 year end water and Nitrogen use reports annually by December 15 (December 14 for 2018). We have some great new tools to help complete these calculations. Calculating the amount of water and Nitrogen applied to a vineyard are important for tracking inputs and improving efficiency. Fifth Annual California Green Medal: Sustainable Winegrowing Leadership Awards

SAN FRANCISCO — California vineyards and wineries are encouraged to apply for the 2019 California Green Medal: Sustainable Winegrowing Leadership Awards. Applications are now being accepted at www.greenmedal.org. The California Green Medal is presented by California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance (CSWA), California Association of Winegrape Growers, Wine Institute, Lodi Winegrape Commission, Napa Valley Vintners, Sonoma County Winegrowers and The Vineyard Team. 13.1.2 Sustainability Plan Standard on Hold

Standard 13.1.2 is on hold for 2018 so participants do not need to complete it at this time. The SIP Certified Standards are a “living document” – they are updated with new science, technology, and best practices to continue to set the gold standard for sustainability. How SIP Certified Maintains the Gold Standard for Sustainability

Since 2008, SIP Certified has infused grape growing and wine making with a sense of responsibility. Participants in SIP Certified may find new Standards (farming and wine processing practices) each year as better practices are researched and developed.
