Direct to Consumer Sales Tips

August 6

2021

Fall is a special time in wine country with the coming of harvest season and fall wine club shipments. It’s a time to remind your club members, mailing list subscribers, and other followers who you are as a brand and highlighting your brand attributes. Sustainability continues to be an in-demand feature for consumer products with a recent report from Accenture found that 60% of consumers were making more environmentally friendly, sustainable or ethical purchases since the pandemic began, with 90% intending to do so long-term.

Knowing that connecting with consumer needs should be top of mind, consider these ideas for your next DTC (direct to consumer) mailings and shipments:

Seasons of Sustainability

Check in with your vineyard and winery teams to convey what types of work is being done to maintain sustainability efforts on your properties. Refer to this chart for activities to highlight in your emails, social media, and wine release letters.

Unboxing is Fun

With many consumers receiving a number of wine club shipments this fall, it’s key to think about how your shipment will stand out from the rest and create a sense of excitement. Unboxing is an almost everyday activity for many folks and when that box opens up, what do you have inside that will resonate with the consumer? Consider including educational collateral around your SIP Certified efforts with an informational postcard or another tangible item that sparks thought and resonates with your customers’ values.

Multimedia Connection

In the last year, we’ve seen the inevitable rise of the QR code and its power to convey information with a quick scan. The eco-friendly nature of these codes alleviates excessive use of paper and can be an easy portal into multimedia adventures. Using a QR code in a wine club shipment can connect consumers to videos, slide shows, and other informational content to help them learn more about your brand story, sustainability efforts, and vintage notes.

With Fall just around the corner and consumers’ desire for connection at an all time high, it’s important to have a plan in place for your upcoming DTC communications and shipments.

Order Materials for Your Wine Shipment
