Sittin’ on Top of the World

As a teenager, David Lafond spent his summers pruning, picking, and hauling at his family’s vineyards in Santa Barbara County. As an adult, David spent two decades as a successful General Contractor in the county before coming full circle back to the wine business. Fittingly, his last job as a contractor was overseeing construction and equipment instillation at Lafond Winery. Today, David is the General Manager in charge of vineyards and the winemaking facility. He helped spearhead Lafond’s implementation of SIP Certified practices. When the weather cooperates, you just might find David horseback riding with his wife Kim ‑ that’s her in the foreground ‑ or playing blues on a well-worn Takamine dreadnought guitar he bought back in high school.
