Easy Ways to Use Video to Talk About Your Sustainability

posted: April 21, 2021

There is nothing like a consumer getting lost in a wormhole of videos and engaging with your brand on a level from their home that is only rivaled by a visit to your facility. Sitting in the comfort of their own home, traveling through your vineyard, cellar, and tasting facility strengthens their relationship with your brand and inevitably increases their spend. This is a chance to walk them through who you are as a brand as well as showcase your commitment to responsible farming and winemaking.

Before you get nervous about video production costs and hiring a crew; look no further than your all powerful smartphone and the myriad of easy to use editing software available. For Apple users, iMovie is very simple to use with a bevvy of tutorials available online. Making a fun, concise video has never been easier. Make sure your online content meets federal accessibility laws.

John Gayley, hospitality team member at Center of Effort winery, does an incredible job of using videos to give updates on the vineyard and demonstrate sustainable practices up close in a series of videos available on the winery’s website. In addition to Gayley’s approachable and educational videos, Center of Effort also utilizes their winemaking staff to exhibit winemaking processes as well as special library tastings with winemaker Nathan Carlson. COE’s videos are a terrific example of a small staff putting together excellent video content to give consumers a comprehensive look at their vineyards, facilities, sustainability efforts, and most importantly, friendly demeanor.

Pisoni Vineyards created an exceptional video to showcase their sustainability practices and as vineyard manager Mark Pisoni says in the video, “Sustainable farming allows me to grow the best possible grapes I can on this ranch. We’re firmly committed to farming for years and years and doing it the right way.” In the case of Pisoni where consumers don’t have access to the vineyard, the video does an incredible job of bringing the vineyard to life on screen and creating a bond with the viewer.
