Californian Vintners Report High Quality for 2022 Harvest

posted: November 15, 2022

Wine Industry Advisor recently released a Press Release on the 2022 winegrape harvest season, stating that after a season of curveballs, vintners across the state are expecting a high-quality 2022 vintage.

Many winemakers and winery owners made comments for this article:

“I think it’s going be a pretty intense vintage — concentrated and powerful."
- Nate Weis, Vice President of Winegrowing, Silver Oak & Twomey Cellars

“The fruit from our early picks is dark, complex in aroma and firm in texture, while fruit that remained on the vines during the heat event is riper with softer tannins and great flavor concentration."
- Robin Baggett, Vintner & Managing Partner, Alpha Omega & Tolosa

"This is one for the record books.”
- Lisa Amaroli, Benziger’s Director of Winemaking, Benziger Family Winery

“... We’ve found that the smaller cluster and reduced berry sizes have resulted in a significant level of complexity and intensity. We are seeing very good quality — and in some cases truly exceptional quality — for the 2022 vintage.”
- Heidi Scheid, Executive Vice President, Scheid Vineyards
