SIP Certified Sustainable Wines from the Santa Lucia Highlands - Christy on the Vine

posted: March 21, 2022

SIP Certified recently teamed with Christy on the Vine, a content creator and wine blogger who is passionate about exploring Cailfornia's diverse wine-growing regions. She loves supporting local wineries and the work of sustainable businesses, so we sent her a couple of SIP Certified wines: Pisoni Vineyards' 2019 Lucia Pinot Noir and McIntyre's 2019 SLH Chardonnay, both from the Santa Lucia Highlands AVA in Monterey County.

Christy took these wines to the beach because "Monterey Bay plays a big role in the climate of the Santa Lucia Highlands. One of the world’s largest submarine canyons is located offshore and Monterey Bay influences the appellation with fog and cooling maritime winds." You can read her wine blog post here.

The Santa Lucia Highlands is recognized as the leading growing region on America's West Coast for single-variety, cool-climate varieties -- chief among them, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. You can view a map of the Santa Lucia Highlands AVA here -- spot Pisoni toward in the upper part of the left end of the region, and McIntyre on the bottom edge of the opposite end, about a quarter of the way from the far right edge.
