5 Ways Certification Made You the SIP This Year
December 9
2024As 2024 comes to a close, we want to recognize 5 ways your certification made you the SIP this year.
1. Regulatory Relief for 161 Vineyards
2024 was the first year that growers on California’s Central Coast had to submit Total Nitrogen Applied Reports to their Regional Water Board.
These growers must report how much water, compost, and fertilizer was applied to their crop, as well as the nitrogen content from each of those sources.
SIP Certified partnered with Preservation Inc to complete and submit these reports on their behalf, saving them countless hours of administrative work.
And central coast growers can participate again in 2025! Reach out to whitney@vineyardteam.org if you need to sign up.
2. 6 Stories in Grape & Wine Magazine
Your Sustainable Stories are being shared in Grape & Wine Magazine!
Each one of this year’s issues told a unique story about how a SIP Certified member practices sustainability. Your stories help spread awareness of what really makes wine sustainable:

3. Reciprocal Club Tastings for Nearly 30 Brands
Earlier this year, nearly 30 wine brands across four California counties and Michigan State enjoyed reciprocal club tastings during ReSIProcal February 2024.
This month-long event helps connect your brand with other like-minded brands and wine enthusiasts who value sustainability. It’s also a great way to boost your tasting room traffic during a historically slow month.
And there are even more participants already signed up for ReSIProcal February 2025! Any brand who makes their wine from SIP Certified grapes can join.
4. Visibility on Over 2.7m Bottles
20 wine brands helped increase awareness of SIP Certified by putting the logo on their bottles. They added the logo to over 2.7m bottles to show customers that the wine inside was made with care for people and the planet.
Did you know that any wine made with at least 85% SIP Certified fruit, estate or purchased, can apply to put the logo on the bottle? Click here to learn how to get started.
5. 9 In-Person Sustainability Trainings
Tasting room staff from 9 brands invited SIP Certified staff to teach them what it means to be SIP Certified.
We talked with their hospitality teams about sustainability in the wine industry and identified ways they practice sustainability at their own operation so they can feel more confident talking about their certification with customers.
Your team can be next! Email whitney@vineyardteam.org to schedule your free, 30-minute tasting room training.
Keep This SIP Up!
Each one of these opportunities is available in 2025 so you can be the SIP next year, too.
