Tips for Certified Vineyards: Chapters 1 & 9

February 6, 2017

These tips are to help you update your certification documents a little each month to prepare for your June 1 through July 15 inspection to achieve SIP Certified vineyard.

Login to the database at https://app.sipcertified.org to read each specific Standard as you implement and document them. Unless otherwise specific, documentation should reflect practices from December 1 through June/July.

For Full Inspection Vineyards

Take this month to complete Chapters 1 and 9.

  • 1.1.1 Starting this year, you must update your conservation plan at least every five years. NRCS and many RCDs can help you create a conservation plan but they book up fast. Contact your local agency to get started. You might be able to get your plan for free so ask if they have funding. Vineyard Team has a Conservation Planning Tailgate on March 21 in Paso Robles to help you develop a plan with NRCS and RCD. Learn More.
  • 9.1.1 Do you have 20 hours of continuing education from the past 12 months (June 2016-June 2017)? Hours need to pertain to farming sustainability issues and do not need to be official CE hours. Document by uploading your registration receipt. Visit www.vineyardteam.org/events to see what we have coming up.
  • NEW Vineyards – 9.1.2 Write up your procedure to maintain certification.
