This is for SIP Certified vineyard applicants with a documentation or documentation and onsite inspection. Login to the database at https://app.sipcertified.org to read each specific Standard as you implement and document them. Unless noted otherwise in the Standards, documentation should reflect practices from Dec. 1, 2016 to June/July 2017. What to Document? Documentation - Complete Standards marked “D” in the database. Unless noted otherwise in the Standards, documentation should reflect practices from Dec. 1, 2016 to June/July 2017. Take this month to complete Chapters 3 and 10. Vineyards that have previously been certified will also find a few new questions in the database. Apply for the Green Medal Award

California vineyards and wineries are encouraged to apply for the 2017 California Green Medal: Sustainable Winegrowing Leadership Awards. Applications are now being accepted at www.greenmedal.org. California vineyards and wineries that participate in any sustainability program available in California are eligible to apply in four award categories that will recognize outstanding achievement in sustainability: Leader Award, given to the vineyard or winery that demonstrates success and innovation in all of the below three areas of sustainable winegrowing. Niner Wine Estates Takes Sustainability to the Next Level

SIP Certified Sustainability Seal of Approval Now Available for Wineries Niner Wine Estates in Paso Robles, California, has become the first winery to achieve Sustainability in Practice (SIP) Certified. The program has certified vineyards since 2008, and expanded its independent, third-party verification scope to include wineries in 2015. The winery certification process rigorously reviews a number of factors, including energy efficiency, water use, glass and paper recycling, and even materials used in packaging and collateral marketing materials.
